The Octave Chromatography System

Description

The Semba Octave™ Chromatography System is an automated liquid chromatography platform designed for preparative-scale purification of chemical and biological compounds. This bench top multicolumn system is capable of simulated moving bed chromatography (SMBC) protocols that increase productivity up to 20-fold vs. conventional single-column methods.

The Octave System carries eight column positions arranged in series and connected through a proprietary pneumatic valve array. The programmable 72-valve array contains no moving parts, occupies only 3 μl per valve, and responds within 100 ms. Fluid flow is controlled by four independent pumps. The valve and pump configuration provides ultimate flexibility in programming chromatographic protocols via the SembaPro™ Software.

The system easily accommodates continuous operation for multiple cycles of purification. All flow paths are made of metal-free biocompatible materials that are also compatible with organic solvents for chemical applications and clean-in-place solutions. With its small footprint, the Octave Chromatography System brings the high resolution and efficiency of SMBC to the bench top, packing more purification capability into this space than any other similar size chromatography instrument.

Two Octave System configurations are available that differ in their maximum pump flow rates and internal tubing systems. The Octave 10 System includes the Octave 10 Pump Module containing four precision single-piston pumps with maximum flow rates of 10 ml/min, and uses narrow 1/16” OD tubing system to minimize dead volume. The Octave 100 System is designed for larger scale applications and includes four separate dual-piston Octave 100 Pumps having maximum flow rates of 100 ml/min, and wider-bore 1/8” OD tubing system.

The Octave 10 Chromatography System: The smallest, most affordable simulated moving bed chromatography system in the world.
